Violence Against Women Act & NHA The Norwalk Housing Authority will not evict, or remove assistance from certain person living in public housing if the asserted grounds for such action is an instance of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking as those terms are defined in Section 3 of the United States Housing Act of 1937 as amended by the Violence Against Women and Justice Department Reauthorization Act 2005. NHA and/or the HCV landlord shall ask an individual for documentation that he or she is or has been a victim of domestic violence, dating violence, or stalking, subject to certain statutory requirements related to confidentiality and the types of documentation that may be used. At such time as HUD develops a certification form to be used in conjunction with this policy, the NHA will adopt and use it.
