Who we are:

The Norwalk Housing Authority Learning Centers offer students from first through twelfth grades an exceptional slate of after school programs designed to educate children through inspiration. Education, computer/web technology, creative expression, community awareness and sports all play a part in this unique program.

Daily homework assistance and special tutoring in math, reading and writing is offered for all students. Science and social studies support is added into the expanded after school curriculum for middle school and high school students. Trips to museums, theaters and local events are a regular part of the program. Special celebrations and seasonal events are also planned.

Our Mission:

The purpose of the Norwalk Housing Authority Learning Centers is to ensure that children, primarily youth residing in public housing, develop the academic and personal skills that lead to success in school and in future life.

What we do:

The Learning Centers provide after school tutoring and homework assistance to students in grades K through 12. We tutor kids in Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies and Writing. We offer enrichment classes in Art and SAT MATH, as well as dedicated Literacy instruction via trained professionals at our King Kennedy Literacy Center. We also offer recreational and cultural actives to foster positive social interaction including Latin Drumming, karate, and tennis. Our curriculum includes educational and recreational and field trips to colleges, museums, and plays. In addition, we provide safe transportation and nutritional snacks.

Our Staff:

Our caring, competent professionals and specialists are dedicated to student success.  All hold post-secondary degrees, some of whom are also certified teachers.  We have strong management with a staff to student ratio of approximately 1 to 10.
